Author Code of Conduct

This page is translated using AI tools.

General Provisions

1. The “Author Code” presented on this page is an integral part of the editorial policy of the Scientific Publishing Department (SPD RSUTS ) regarding ethical conduct for all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers. The standards listed below are based on generally accepted international practices of scientific journals and publishers and apply to all materials published in the scientific journals issued by the SPD of RSUTS.

2. The Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Russian State University of Tourism and Service," as the founder and publisher of the scientific journals “Service And Tourism: Current Challenges”,  “Service in Russia and Abroad”,  “Service plus,” and “Bulletin of the Association of Universities of Tourism and Service”,  assumes responsibility for monitoring all stages of article publication and acknowledges its ethical and other obligations related to publishing articles.

Policy on Responsible Author Approach to Publication

1. Publication is the final stage of scientific research and, therefore, a responsible step in the work of all authors. Scientific publications are expected to provide a detailed and accurate presentation of research results. As publications form the basis not only for new research but also for practical application of results, they influence not only the scientific community but, indirectly, society as a whole. Therefore, authors are obligated to guarantee that their publications are honest, clear, precise, complete, and balanced; they must avoid presenting misleading information, selective or ambiguous presentation of facts.

2. Authors must comply with publication requirements regarding the originality of the submitted work and its prior unpublication in any language. The work cannot be simultaneously submitted to multiple publications unless publishers agree to co-publication. Authors must notify the Editorial Board if the data they are submitting for publication has been previously published elsewhere or if any interpretations of this data have been sent to other publishers. In such cases, authors must provide copies of such publications or works submitted for consideration in other journals. Authors should respect a publisher's request to limit publications in other scientific editions and media outlets and refrain from reporting the results of their research to the media if an article has been accepted for publication (but not yet published) in a scientific journal.

3. Various publications arising from work on a single research project must be clearly identified as such and should include references to the original publications. Translations and adaptations for different audiences must be clearly marked and have references to the original source.

4. Published research must be conducted in accordance with accepted ethical and current legal norms. The published research must be of high quality and carefully executed. Authors must use appropriate methods of data analysis and presentation (and, if necessary, seek consultation from a specialist in this area). Authors must present results honestly and without fabrication, falsification, or dishonest manipulation of data; they should strive to describe their methods clearly and unambiguously. Publications should provide sufficient information for other researchers to replicate the experiments conducted (i.e., there should be an effort towards verifiable research methodology).

5. In articles prepared by a collective of authors, all co-authors share responsibility for their work and the content of the publication. All co-authors must carefully review their contributions at every stage to ensure that all methods and results are accurately presented. Co-authors should meticulously verify all calculations, data representations, documentation, and evidence generated. All authors must read and thoroughly understand the work submitted for publication and guarantee its adherence to the principles outlined in this Code of Conduct. In most cases, co-authors bear joint and equal responsibility for the integrity of the publication. However, if authors accept responsibility only for specific aspects of the work and published material, this should be explicitly stated within the publication.

6. Articles presenting reports on completed research must be comprehensive. They should not omit information regarding unexplained findings, contradictory data, or data that contradicts the theories or hypotheses of the authors or research sponsors. Research sponsors should not have the right to veto publications of results that present their products or positions unfavorably. All limitations impacting the research conducted by the authors and described in the article must be disclosed within the publication.

7. New findings should be presented within the context of previous research. The work of other scientists must be appropriately acknowledged. Reviews and conclusions drawn from existing research should be comprehensive, balanced, and include information regardless of whether it supports or contradicts the author’s hypotheses and interpretations.

8. Authors must adhere to applicable copyright conventions and legislation. Copyrighted materials (e.g., tables, illustrations, substantial text excerpts from publications) may only be reproduced with the permission of their owners. Authorship of data, text, figures, and ideas obtained from other sources must be acknowledged, and they should not be presented as the author’s own work. Wherever possible, a reference to the original source should be provided. Citations and references to other works must be accurate and meticulously formatted. Direct quotations from the work of other researchers must be enclosed in quotation marks with appropriate referencing. Authors should not copy references from other publications without having personally reviewed the cited works. Publications should accurately and completely cite previous works relevant to the research, both by other researchers and by the author(s) themselves. Researchers must ensure that only individuals who meet authorship criteria (i.e., have made a substantial contribution to the work) are listed as authors, and that deserving contributors are not excluded from the list. [Your Institution Name] actively discourages guest, honorary, or anonymous authorship. All co-authors must provide consent for inclusion in the author list and approve the submitted and edited version of the manuscript. Any changes to the author list must be approved by all authors, including those being removed. The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the publisher and other authors and is responsible for informing co-authors and involving them in decisions regarding publication (e.g., responding to reviewer comments). Authors should not mislead readers by acknowledging individuals who did not actively contribute to the work or provide support for the research.

9. Authors must not publish or disseminate identifiable personal data collected during research without explicit consent (or the consent of their legal representatives). Researchers should be aware that improper handling of personal data in their research and publications carries a risk of harm or distress to individuals outside the intended audience (e.g., research participants or their families who may recognize themselves in case studies, descriptions, or images).

10. All sources of funding for the research must be disclosed, including direct and indirect financial support, provision of equipment or materials, and other forms of assistance (e.g., statistical analysis expertise). Authors should provide information regarding the sponsor’s level of involvement (if any) in project design, execution, data analysis, interpretation of results, and manuscript preparation. Authors must disclose any financial and non-financial interests and relationships that could potentially influence the interpretation of their findings, as well as any such information that may be relevant to the publisher, reviewers, and readers. Furthermore, authors should adhere to established guidelines regarding disclosure of competing interests.

Concluding Provisions

1.  Authors must promptly notify the RSUTS Scientific Publishing Department, the Editor-in-Chief, and the scientific editor of the journal to which the article is submitted, in the event of discovering an error in any manuscript they have submitted for publication, accepted for publication, or already published. Authors should cooperate with editors regarding necessary revisions or reductions to the manuscript, as well as in addressing errors or omissions discovered after publication. Authors must respond appropriately to post-publication comments and correspondence. They should endeavor to address reviewer questions and provide necessary explanations and additional information when requested. Authors are expected to respond to reviewers’ queries accurately, professionally, and in a timely manner.

2.  By publishing scientific, practical, and other materials (articles) with their authorship indicated on the pages of scientific journals published by the RSUTS Scientific Publishing Department, authors express their consent to the above-mentioned "Author Code" and assume all responsibility that may be imposed upon them for non-compliance with its provisions. The RSUTS Scientific Publishing Department reserves the right at any time to amend, clarify, or supplement these provisions of the “Author Code,” provided they do not contradict generally accepted international norms or common sense, and such changes will take effect immediately.
